Welcome [MM_Member_Data name=’firstName’],
Where should you (the adult) start?
First, it’s important to understand one fundamental truth about meditation in order to teach it to children.
Meditation is not do-ing, it’s be-ing.
Meditation, as a starting point, is simply being aware of your own awareness.
It is the “practice” that is the do-ing.
The practice consists of sitting quietly on a pillow (or chair) with your eyes closed and anchoring your awareness to something other than thought itself (e.g. your breath, a mantra, etc.). When you do this consistently, preferably daily, you have a started a meditation practice.
Over time, it is this practice that will naturally lead you to a meditative state … on its own. It is this process that creates the right conditions for meditation to occur.
